Wear comfort on your sleeves
Don’t end up being a victim to fashion. Wear what becomes your body and suits your personality, says designer Raghavendra Rathore
Women appreciate a man who looks good. But before you intiate a radical revamp of your wardrobe, remember it works to your advantage if you first figure out what compliments you. Don’t end up being a fashion victim.
Pastels rule the palette for menswear this season. Neutral tones like beige and tan are hot and the rising temperature makes these colours come to life in breathable and comfortable fabrics like cotton, voiles and cambric.
Try something new once in a while just for fun to avoid getting stuck on a specific style. Men are creatures of habit and change their inherent style rarely. When they desire to accept change it is generally seen as an achievement by the brand they chose to be dressed in. The attempt for a designer is, therefore, clear: bring subtle change in a collection through color, cut and styling. What I would bill as the biggest reinvention of the season is the safari suit. It is casual, comfortable and stylish.
Wear what becomes your body type and suits your personality. There are no rules. For casuals, try donning a fitted untucked shirt with dark denims. It is a cool and comfortable ensemble in the summer heat. If you are out attending a formal do, then a bandhgala suit worn with a crisp formal shirt is perfect. If you are planning to unwind at the club, go for a self-textured shirt or a printed custom-made shirt and team it with dark denims.
Belts are big in accessories for men this summer. These are essential co-ordinates that complement whatever you wear. A few must-haves include belts in tan, brown and black. Shoes speak a lot about a man. Here I would bill the lace-up, square-toe shoe as simply classic and timeless.
The idea is to avoid overkill. Steer clear of anything that is overdone in terms of embellishment. Keep it simple, classic, stylish and chic.
